The Pigs N Poodles Family

Standard Bernedoodles

The gentle giants of the doodle world — Bernese heart, Poodle brain, and a coat that won't cover your couch.

The Breed

What makes a Standard Bernedoodle

A Standard Bernedoodle is a Bernese Mountain Dog crossed with a Standard Poodle. You get the Bernese's steady, devoted, family-first nature and the Poodle's intelligence and low-shedding coat — a big dog that's remarkably easy to live with.

50–90 lbs
Size

A real presence in the room, and a real lap dog who has no idea how big they are. Adult size varies with the pairing and can't be guaranteed.

Non-Shedding
Coat

Soft, wavy to curly, and allergy-friendly. Plan on regular brushing and a groomer every few months to keep that coat in good shape.

12–15 yrs
Lifespan

Longer than a purebred Bernese, thanks to the wider gene pool — one of the real gifts of the cross.

Living With One

Gentle, loyal, and closer than your shadow

Temperament

Bernedoodles are known for their intelligence, affection, sociability, and goofy cheerful attitudes — loyal, friendly, even-tempered, gentle, and kind. That combination makes them wonderful family companions, and strong candidates for service, therapy, or assistance work. Like the Bernese, they can be a little reserved with strangers at first, which is why early socialization matters so much to us.

What they ask of you

Brushing a few times a week, a groomer every couple of months, and thirty to sixty minutes of daily activity. In return you get twelve to fifteen years of the most devoted companionship a family can have.

They don't like being left

This is the honest part. Bernedoodles are deeply human-oriented and don't do well alone for long stretches. If your house is empty ten hours a day, this may not be the right breed — and we'd rather tell you that now than have a puppy come back to us later.

Health & testing

Every parent in our program is DNA health-tested and raised as family. Our puppies go home vet-checked, microchipped, current on vaccinations and deworming, with a written 1-year warranty — 2 full years with NuVet. Read our full warranty →
