BRINGING HOME A NEW PUPPY
A few helpful tips that can make you and your new puppy at ease.
***YOUR PUPPY MAY NOT WANT TO EAT SOON AFTER HE/SHE ARRIVES, IN TIME HE/SHE WILL…MOST IMPORTANT THING TO MAKE SURE IS THAT HE/SHE DRINKS FLUIDS…IF HE/SHE IS RELUCTANT TRY SWEETENING THE WATER WITH A LITTLE SUGAR OR HAVE SOME PEDIALYTE & HONEY ( A TAD MIXED IN WARM WATER SO THEY DON'T CHOKE) IS THE BEST AND THEY LOVE IT.
SOMETIMES THE STRESS OF GOING TO THEIR NEW HOME GIVES THEM AN UPSET TUMMY AND THEY CAN GET DIARRHEA, IF THIS IS THE CASE ½ TSP KAOPECTATE AFTER EACH LOOSE STOOL SHOULD PUT THEM IN CHECK. IF IT PERSIST MORE THAN 24 HRS THEY NEED TO SEE THE VET, DEHYDRATION IS VERY SERIOUS. ANOTHER THING IF THEY A RELUCTANT TO EAT ,HAVE YOGURT ON HAND AND IT SHOULD DO THE TRICK, 1 TSP MIXED AROUND IN ABOUT ½ CUP DRY FOOD COATING THE DRY GOOD, OR EVEN YOGURT WITHOUT THE FOOD IS FINE TO.
Puppy Eating Schedule
I don't like a hungry puppy: (Every puppy is different depending on age & size, so I free feed through out the day.) I like a growing baby to eat when it is hungry. I leave fresh waster out all day until I pick food up around 5:30 and water around 7:30. ( This helps with potty training and holding it thru the night!) If this method doesn't work for you or your schedule then i would suggest feeding as soon as you get the puppy up of a morning, at lunch and again in the evening. Be sure to take your puppy straight out to potty as soon as it walks away from the dish.
Puppy vaccinations...
Keep up-to-date on vet appointments, shots and caring for the general health of your puppy. Remember to invest in good nutrition and care for him/her; it will pay off in the long run. I have given you the list of shots & worming he /she already has and the dates due for the next vet visit. Please be sure to follow the guide line i give you..Its so important your puppy gets all the shots and worming he needs.
Puppy won't eat...
Make sure you continue with the food he has been on.
Puppies also love to eat broccoli stocks, brussel sprouts, and carrots. It's good for them! Also, it is important to start your puppy on a vitamin supplement- the
NU-VET vitamins are recommended .
Puppy has diarrhea...
½ teaspoon of Kaopectate with meals until stools are firm, or canned pumpkin ( as much pumpkin as he can eat is fine) . If the problem doesn't improve with in 48 hrs. call your vet. This is very common during the first week they are in their new environment. Cottage cheese or plain yogurt is good food for your puppy.
Puppy has blood in stool...
Watch their stool for a day or two. They can sometimes get blood in their stool after they are wormed or even if they have worms. Also a change in food or diet can cause intestinal bleeding. You can also watch for worms.
(sometimes those little buggers can't been seen , but are causing the puppy a great deal of tummy upset) The pups have been wormed every 2 weeks from birth however, please keep an eye on their stool. sometimes they are a bugger to get rid of. Blood in stools more than 48 hrs. needs to be checked by a vet. Take stool sample in so they can examine it.
Puppy won't sleep through the night...
He/she will awaken around 4-6:00 A.M to go potty( depending on age.Puppies older then 10 weeks are sleeping thru the night)
After a couple weeks they get stronger and probably will sleep through the night. You can get them on your schedule after the adjustment period. Covering the crate with a sheet or crate cover (be sure to leave a opening for air) will help the puppy to relax as they are new to their surrounds. I also have a Alexa that I use in their room with classical music for a soothing feel & be sure to put the toys I send them home with in their crate.
Puppy cries...
Put a toy and a towel in crate. You can also play soft music or put a clock near their crate for noise.DO NOT put a puppy pad in the crate , this is teaching them its ok to go potty in the crate. It amazes me when people tell you to do this, it defeated the purpose!
Puppies won't obey...
Puppies will learn to obey with consistent training. I suggest obedience training. You can start training the day you bring your bundle of joy home. These babies are eager to please so be patient as they are learning to! Please check out the Online Puppy Training I suggest on my webpage. The Baxter & Bella program is amazing. Its 178.00 ( only 1 time fee) with my PIGSNPOODLES code, for the life of your puppy. 24/7 live access from your own home with a phone or computer.
Puppy is lethargic...
If puppy isn't eating and drinking it tends to make them sluggish. It is important to get them hydrated. Give them children's pedialyte, also honey is very good for a puppy thats lethargic due to sugar drop. I have cured many animals on honey alone.
Puppy vomits...
A good tip to get the puppy back to health is to use Pedialyte or a tbs of honey mixed in warm water to dissolve the honey then add ice cubes to cool down. Try to encourage them to drink this from their bowl.
Puppy goes potty in house...
When they are sniffing around an area that's your que to get them out . They should also give a bark to you when they are needing to potty. Listen to them, they are trying to tell you something! Crate train them at night and watch for signs. In 3 weeks you will be happy you were strict.

Puppy sleeps too much...
Let them rest! They are like newborn babies. They have a limited amount of energy and will only play for awhile. Playtime should be 30 minutes at the beginning and then you can extend it as the days and weeks pass.
Puppy is chewing...
A simple trick is to rub some Dial Soap on the items puppy is chewing. One taste of that and the toys and dog dish will seem a lot better! Good luck with your puppy! Me and my family has put a great deal of time and energy into making these puppies "owner friendly" and we wish you well and the beast of luck! If my simple suggestions don't work or medical problems develop in the first few days/weeks/or months please call your vet.

**ALWAYS KEEP HONEY AND COCONUT OIL ON HAND!!!!
STRESS:
Stress occurs when you take a new puppy out of its natural environment. This means that when you purchase a puppy and take it home, you are creating a stressful situation for it. Stress kills off the good bacteria in the G. I. tract. When anything occurs out of the ordinary, it is stressful. Worming, shots, shipping, and riding in a car to their new home, these are all things that create stress for small animals. Here is a list of things I ask you do to help with the stress of your puppy. We want to make the transition a good one.
YOGURT:
Plain yogurt culture puts the good bacteria back into their system so you will have a healthy puppy. Feed them all they want for the first few days until they adjust to their new environment. Only use PLAIN NATURAL YOGURT/no added flavors or sugars .NO ARTIFICIALLY SWEETENED!!This can be very harmful to dogs. The yogurt should also contain live bacteria cultures.
Very important: HYPOGLYCEMIA:
This is where the sugar level suddenly drops in a small animals. The first signs of this problem is usually staggering and falling over as though they are drunk. Or they can be observed lying on their side paddling with their front feet as though they are swimming. If any of these symptoms happens, you must act very quickly in order to save your puppy's life. YOU HAVE TO GET THE SUGAR LEVEL UP TO BRING THE PUPPY OUT OF THIS SITUATION. AND IT MUST BE DONE VERY QUICKLY. Usually you do not have time to get them to a Vet before they suffer irreparable damage. Honey is the best remedy for this situation. But if honey is not available, use Corn Syrup or anything that is super sweet. If you don't have any of this on hand, then run about an inch of water in a coffee cup and stir in 2 or 3 teaspoons of sugar and stir quickly until it dissolves. Then you must get some of this mixture into the puppy. At this point, you will find the puppy clinch's it mouth shut and will not lap it up on its own. By inserting a finger in the corner of the puppy's mouth you can pry it open far enough to get a fingertip covered with honey into its mouth. Or in the case of the sugar water, an eyedropper, straw, or even dropping it through the opening in the mouth one-drop at a time from a spoon. Once the puppy gets a good taste of the sweet substance, it will usually start licking its tongue out and will start to recover in a very short time. Do not be surprised if diarrhea should follow when relieving it's self. If your puppy is experience episodes of hypoglycemia, it is usually a sign that it is not taking in enough food or it has an underlying problem that may need medical attention. Sometimes, this problem can be corrected by just stirring in a teaspoon of sugar to the puppy's water supply daily until the episodes subside.
REMEMBER,THIS IS YOUR NEW BABY , TREAT IS LIKE ONE....IT NEEDS LOTS OF LOVING CARE
