Guardian Home Contract

The Parties & The Dog
1. The Guardian Partnership
A dog needs to be part of a family to develop their full potential — that is the reason for this program. Pigs N Poodles places this dog with the Guardian family to raise, love, and keep as a member of their family. The Guardian family has been approved as Guardian parents and agrees to abide by this contract of care.
Pigs N Poodles (Tamara Brady) owns the dog until all breeding obligations are met, and retains full breeding rights, including the right to breed the dog when we choose. This is not a program for families interested in breeding dogs themselves; we do not split litters with Guardian parents.
2. Ownership Transfer — The Promise at the End
Females complete their Guardian journey at age 5, or after 4 complete litters — whichever comes first. A litter of fewer than 3 puppies is not counted as complete. Pigs N Poodles will then have her spayed at our expense, and ownership papers are signed over to the Guardian family.
Males complete guardianship at age 6, are neutered at our expense, and ownership transfers to the Guardian family.
Either way, nothing changes at home — the dog simply keeps being what they have always been: your family dog, now in name as well as in love.
3. Home & Household Requirements
The Guardian family must own their home, have a fenced-in back yard, and live within 150 miles of Pigs N Poodles, providing transportation to and from us whenever needed for breeding, testing, or whelping.
The dog must be an indoor pet, never left unattended outside, and never allowed to run loose without supervision.
All other dogs in the home MUST be spayed or neutered — zero exceptions. An intact female will never be placed or kept in a home with an unaltered male, and the Guardian family agrees to keep no unaltered animals in the home during the Pigs N Poodles ownership period. Everyone in the household must be in agreement with the Guardian arrangement.
4. Daily Care at the Guardian's Expense
The Guardian family is responsible for the everyday expenses of the dog, including quality food we recommend, NuVet vitamins, routine veterinary care, yearly exams, vaccinations and rabies, grooming, and supplies (crate, collar, leash, and all necessary items for pet care).
Pigs N Poodles is responsible for all breeding-related costs, including health certifications and all medical costs during breeding and whelping at our home. After the dam returns to the Guardian's care, the Guardian resumes responsibility for routine medical and grooming costs.
5. Grooming
The dog must be kept well-groomed at all times: a teddy-bear cut day to day, cut short when she comes to us for breeding, and shaved before returning to us for whelping.
6. Training & Socialization
Enrollment in the Baxter & Bella Online Puppy School (or another program approved in advance by Pigs N Poodles) is REQUIRED, with basic obedience taught. If this is not completed by the day guardianship begins, the guardianship is revoked and the dog must be returned at once.
The Guardian family agrees to socialize the dog every day and generously — take them everywhere and show them the world.
7. Communication & Updates
The Guardian family must send photos, videos, and updates on the 1st of every month — or more often if requested.
The Guardian must contact the breeder immediately in the event of any serious illness or accident, and send Pigs N Poodles a copy of all vet visit records — this is a must.
Going more than two months without contact is a breach of this agreement and requires the dog's prompt return to Pigs N Poodles.
8. Heat Cycles & Breeding (Females)
The moment a female starts to cycle or drip blood, the Guardian must call or email us — and keep trying until we have confirmed we heard from you. Heat cycles typically occur every 8–12 months.
If we plan to breed her, we will inform the Guardian family at that time. Females are usually bred between the 9th and 15th day of their season, and come to stay with us around the 6th day.
For whelping, the female must be dropped off with us at least 7–10 days prior to her due date, and she remains with us until her puppies are weaned. The Guardian family is welcome to schedule a visit while she is with us, once the puppies are two weeks of age or older. The Guardian also agrees to bring her for an occasional short visit so our home stays familiar and comfortable for her whelping stays.
9. Unauthorized Breeding or Alteration — $10,000 Penalty
The dog must never be allowed to mate with any other dog. If the female is bred without permission, and/or spayed without written consent from Tamara Brady — Pigs N Poodles, there is a $10,000 penalty, and all puppies and monies produced are the property of Tamara Brady — Pigs N Poodles.
Legal action will be initiated for the breach of contract, and any legal fees incurred by Tamara Brady — Pigs N Poodles to enforce this agreement are the sole responsibility of the Guardian home.
10. Removal From a Guardian Home
There are very few reasons we would ever remove a dog from a Guardian home, but they include (and are not limited to): the dog being allowed to run loose unsupervised; the Guardian family not making the dog available for the breeding schedule; the dog being bred by accident; failure to report a female coming into season; neglect or abuse (at our discretion); the Guardian family moving without informing us personally; the dog having to be rescued from an Animal Control facility; or failure to send monthly pictures, videos, and updates.
If the program is not working for either party, the dog is returned to Pigs N Poodles — or the Guardian may buy out the dog if we agree, at a price we determine.
11. Breeder Visits
The Guardian family agrees to allow Pigs N Poodles to visit the home, with notice, on occasion.
